Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
